Bob received 65% voter support for his Moran Plant redevelopment plan

As Mayor, Bob:

  • Received overwhelming support from voters to move forward on Moran Redevelopment Project, which will revitalize the north end of the Waterfront and invigorate the economy with jobs and other economic activity
  • Prioritized City coordination and completion of the Zoning Rewrite, with a balanced approach that encourages appropriate economic and housing development while maintaining essential character of neighborhoods
  • Through a modified agreement on Westlake Project, brought a new downtown hotel to Burlington and a substantial contribution to affordable Housing Trust Fund
  • Made major City investment in Quadricentennial preparations, which will be signature economic and cultural event in 2009
  • Restored funding for Lead Program to reduce lead paint hazards in apartments and homes
  • Continued to build out Burlington Telecom to offer services to more City neighborhoods
  • Initiated development of Browns Court lot for affordable housing

During Bob’s tenure as Mayor:

  • Private sector jobs in Burlington have grown by 4.9 % and wages have grown by 7.0 %, compared to .1 % and 4.6%, respectively, in the rest of Vermont (Source: VT Dept of Labor Covered Employment & Wages, QCEW 1st Q 2006 to 2nd Q 2008.)
  • Burlington’s Economic Development activities have exceeded goals in supporting creation and retention of jobs and commercial space
  • Burlington has continued to support creation of affordable housing through housing development activities
